Which dog parks have a separate area for small dogs?
20 of the 42 list a small dog area, including 10 in Knoxville and 3 in Nashville (3rd Avenue, Centennial and Fair). Some set a weight limit: Emma Jane Walker Memorial PetSafe Dog Park and Big Turtle Dog Park say 30 lbs and under, and Freedom Run in Franklin says under 30 lbs.
Do I have to pay or register?
3 parks say so. Dogwood Park in Kingsport needs an annual paid membership, Forgey Dog Park in Germantown needs a paid annual dog park card, and West King Street Bark Park in Johnson City needs free registration. Both Franklin parks say they're free. The rest don't say, so check the parks page.
Which dog parks are open late?
Ascend Dog Park and Frankie Pierce Dog Park in Nashville list dawn to 11 p.m., and The Barking Lot in downtown Memphis lists open around the clock. Most other Nashville parks list dawn to dusk.
Is there a dog park with water my dog can get into?
Concord PetSafe Dog Park in Knoxville lists a river dock and a dog shower. Emma Jane Walker Memorial lists a pond with a dock, and Miss Peggy's Bark Park in Brentwood lists creek access. K-9 Korral at Harlinsdale Farm in Franklin says no swimming in the pond.
Grass or turf?
In Nashville, 5 parks list artificial turf (3rd Avenue, Ascend, Fair, Frankie Pierce and One Mile) and 5 list natural grass (Centennial, Pitts, Shelby, Stones River and Warner). The Outback at Shelby Farms Park in Memphis lists more than 100 acres off-leash.
